3D Scanning for Fashion, Clothing and Footwear

We provide 3D scanning for clothing, footwear and fashion accessories, creating 3D models for advertising, CGI, e-commerce and other digital projects.

When we scan a garment, shoe or other fashion product, the aim is not simply to capture its shape. What matters is that, when the product appears later in an image or a 3D scene, it still looks like the real thing.

That is why we work with both the geometry and the textures and materials, taking into account how the model will be used afterwards.

From the real product to the 3D model

A shoe, a swimsuit or a piece of clothing may look easy to digitise until you actually start working with it.

Some materials are more reflective than others. There may be very fine fabric textures, seams, folds, zips or small details that make a real difference to the final result.

With 3D scanning, we can capture much of this information directly from the physical product and then prepare the model for the project it is intended for.

The same level of detail is not always necessary. A model created for an advertising campaign does not necessarily need the same preparation as one that will be used in a 3D viewer or an interactive application.

That is why we adapt the process to the final use of the model.

Clothing, footwear and accessories

We can work with different types of fashion products:

  • Shoes and sneakers
  • Clothing
  • Swimwear and sportswear
  • Bags and accessories
  • Products made from particular materials or with distinctive textures
  • Products with details, reliefs or finishes that need to be preserved

Over the course of different projects, we have worked with products such as sports footwear, denim jeans and swimwear, among other fashion products.

The model doesn’t end with the scan

Getting the 3D mesh is only one part of the process. The model then needs to be prepared so it can actually be used in production.

Depending on the project, this can include cleaning and optimising the geometry, creating the UVs, working on the textures and setting up the materials.

We can also prepare the model with different levels of detail and texture resolution, depending on how it will be used. An image for an advertising campaign does not necessarily require the same preparation as a model intended for an interactive application.

PBR textures and materials can also be prepared when the project requires them.

The aim is not simply to deliver a scan, but to create a 3D model that can actually be used in the production workflow it was created for.

Where can it be used?

A 3D model of a garment, shoe or accessory can be used in different types of projects.

Advertising and CGI

To create images or scenes that would be difficult or costly to produce physically.

E-commerce

To show a product from different angles or incorporate it into 3D shopping experiences.

Catalogues and presentations

To have the product available in digital form and reuse it across different materials.

Audiovisual production

To integrate the product into virtual scenes, animations or compositions.

360° presentations and interactive experiences

When you want users to be able to view and explore the product from different angles.

The way the model will be used is important because it determines how it should be prepared from the beginning.

Once you have the model, you can use it again

Once you have a properly prepared 3D model, you don’t have to start from scratch every time you want to use that product again.

The same model can be used to create new images, campaigns, animations or digital content. You can also change the setting, lighting or composition depending on the needs of each project.

This can be especially useful when a product is going to appear in different campaigns or pieces of content over time. The 3D model becomes a digital asset that you can keep and reuse whenever you need it.

And if you later need to adapt the model for a different type of production, it can serve as a starting point for that new project.

Do you have a piece you want to digitise in 3D?

Every piece is different. The material, shape, finishes and, above all, what you want to do with the model afterwards will determine how we approach the process.

If you have a garment, footwear product or accessory that you want to digitise, tell us what you have and what you need the model for.

From there, we can assess the best way to approach the project.
